SUMMARY:Museums of Brevard Holiday Tour of Historic Homes
DESCRIPTION:The tours will be held December 6th-8th and December 13th-15th. \nSee beautiful architecture and gorgeous holiday decorations! This unique event is a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season and makes a great gift idea for the person who has everything. For the fifth year\, the Museums of Brevard (MOB) is offering holiday tours of 7 Brevard County historic homes. This year there are two types of tickets. You may buy a ticket and tour three of the homes but not the lighthouse ($30) or you may buy a ticket to tour three homes and the lighthouse (extra $10). If you choose to visit more than three of the homes you will need to contact that home and pay at the door. The tours begin at 10 am and the last tour at 2PM. \nSome of the historic homes require reservations\, which can be made directly through the individual home. We have designed a planning guide to assist in the process of making reservations. The planning guide will be an attachment to the email receipt you receive. It will also contain your ticket and your tax receipt. Be sure to download the planning guide when you receive it. You will receive your PastPort at the first home you visit\, which will be your ticket for the remainder of the tour. All proceeds from this event will serve as donations to participating museums for historical preservation projects.

DESCRIPTION:Green Gables is the 128-year-old Queen Anne historic home of the Wells family\, one of the generous benefactors who played a key role in the development of early Melbourne. At this time Green Gables needs community members to embrace the nonprofit’s vision for this architecture\, family legacy\, and community history. Green Gables at Historic Riverview Village\, Inc. has established a plan to rehabilitate and restore the home under the Dept. of Interior’s rules for historic properties. This will be an ambitious endeavor where the community’s support is greatly appreciated. \nWilliam and Nora Wells’ vision and their generosity gifted the area with Wells Park and the first auditorium\, the first library\, establishing the first high school\, and many more things in the area\, all of which have been a benefit for residents of several generations. Green Gables will be a living history museum and a community outreach center on the greenspace of the Indian River Lagoon. Together we can restore Green Gables and save history.
