DESCRIPTION:Robert Navarro is an accomplished New York City performer with more than 25 years of experience as a professional pianist\, teacher\, arranger and producer. Mr. Navarro holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The City College of New York and a Master of Arts from New York University. He has also studied at Mannes College The New School for Music\, and Manhattan School of Music. \nHe has performed with legendary artists Johnny Pacheco\, Conjunto Clasico\, Jose Mangual Jr.\, Pete “Conde” Rodriguez\, Charanga America\, Angel Canales\, Azuquita\, Machito and Orquesta\, Mon Rivera\, and Willie Colon. He has toured with Celia Cruz\, Ray Barreto\, Grupo Fascinacion\, Frankie Ruiz\, Eddie Santiago\, Santiago Ceron\, and many local bands. \nRobert studied privately with jazz great\, Jackie Byrd as well as Harold Danko\, John Lewis\, Valerie Caper\, Ed Summerlin and Ron Carter. \nHe received a Grammy nomination in 2004 for the Conjunto Clasico 25th Anniversary production. In 2007\, he received a Grammy as an arranger with Bobby Cruz Romanticos de Ayer\, Hoy y Siempre Song Envidia. Then in 2011\, he received an award from the Treasure Coast International Film Festival for the musical arrangement of the song City within a Dream for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture. \nGeneral admission is paid at the door: $30 for members of the Jazz Society and Veterans Memorial Center. DESCRIPTION:The program opens with Principal Clarinetist\, Jennifer Royals performing the world premiere of Vero Beach composer\, R. Michael Daugherty’s joyous Concerto for B-flat Clarinet and String Orchestra. The orchestra welcomes back Grammy winner\, Kenneth Fuchs to present the Southeast U.S. Premiere of Quiet in the Land\, a Poem for Orchestra\, a gorgeous and haunting work inspired by the rolling prairie of the Midwestern United States and the ‘immense arching sky’ under which it sits\, cast against the impact of the Second Gulf War which had then recently broken out. Fuchs\, a favorite of conductor Aaron Collins\, is one of the world’s leading composers and has been hailed as an “exemplar of the recovery of American music.” Three extraordinary soloists team up for a one of a kind work\, Beethoven’s “Triple” Concerto\, one of Beethoven’s most soulful\, challenging\, and charming concertos. When played by musicians of the caliber of Lindsay Garritson\, Carey Moorman and Isaac Moorman\, Beethoven’s masterful piano trio with orchestra is three times the fun of a solo concerto. Closing out the concert\, the SCSO will scale the heights of Sibelius’s seventh symphony\, the culmination of the composer’s creative journey as a symphonist. This remarkable work unfolds in a single\, unbroken musical span of about twenty minutes\, yet it depicts a musical drama of truly epic proportions.

DESCRIPTION:Music carries its own genetic code. It reveals who we are\, and where we come from. It holds the identities of entire communities and has no respect for political boundaries. Music moves freely across borders\, even when people cannot. This exciting program will feature six exciting works from around the world\, showcasing classical masterpieces inspired by rich folk traditions. Native American folk songs will also be highlighted in a new and thrilling work from Mark Piszczek\, titled Song Catcher. The concert is rounded out with three very popular works from around the globe\, Aaron Copland’s exciting Billy the Kid\, Percy Grainger’s gorgeous Irish Tune from County Derry\, and Dvorak’s electrifying Slavonic Dances. \n$35 tickets for the concert are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at Marine Bank & Trust.
