DESCRIPTION:Fostering Tomorrow’s Jazz Legends – Join the Ron Teixeira Trio and our Scholarship Winners at this annual Space Coast Jazz Society concert\, celebrating the “future of jazz” with $1\,000 scholarships for two talented Brevard County seniors. \nRon Teixeira\, a Cocoa Beach native and Berklee College of Music graduate\, will perform with Al Dodds on bass and Stan Soloko on drums. Following their set\, our scholarship winners will showcase their talents with the band. \nGeneral admission is paid at the door: $20 for members and veterans\, $25 for guests\, and free for students. Tables\, chairs\, live jazz\, and beautiful river views are provided. Bring your own food and drinks.

SUMMARY:Folk Music Festival
DESCRIPTION:Music carries its own genetic code. It reveals who we are\, and where we come from. It holds the identities of entire communities and has no respect for political boundaries. Music moves freely across borders\, even when people cannot. This exciting program will feature six exciting works from around the world\, showcasing classical masterpieces inspired by rich folk traditions. Native American folk songs will also be highlighted in a new and thrilling work from Mark Piszczek\, titled Song Catcher. The concert is rounded out with three very popular works from around the globe\, Aaron Copland’s exciting Billy the Kid\, Percy Grainger’s gorgeous Irish Tune from County Derry\, and Dvorak’s electrifying Slavonic Dances. \n$35 tickets for the concert are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at Marine Bank & Trust. Tickets at the door are $40. Concertgoers aged 18 and under or with a college ID are admitted free to every SCSO concert.
